Daughter

By Zoe Aja Moore

Produced by Zoe Aja Moore & Company

Sound Designed by Bryan Pivaral

Based on the same transcripts as the Salem witch Trials that inspired Aurther Millers’ “The Crucible”, “daughter” is an attempt to uncover the underlying complexities and societal views of female sexuality and femininity.

I was inspired by images of old buildings and how they were once a place of life and power but are now abandoned and forgotten with time.

"The Cunning Little Vixen" is a whimsical opera composed by Leoš Janáček. Set in a Czech forest, it follows the adventures of a clever Vixen. The story explores the cycles of life and nature as the vixen outwits various characters, including humans and other animals, while also experiencing love and loss. Through its charming music and endearing characters, the opera celebrates the vitality and interconnectedness of the natural world.

For this production there was a 64 piece orchestra and so I took the opportunity to focus on the technical aspect as there was no content needed for this production. I wanted to highlight my paperwork for this production.

Wonderful Town is a comedic story about two sisters facing the wacky rollercoaster ride that is 1930’s Greenwich Village, located in New York City, with dreams of making a name for themselves. Originally from Columbus Ohio, Ruth is an aspiring writer while Eileen has her eyes set on being an actress. On this absurd but relatable journey the sisters meet colorful neighbors along the way that put them in funny situations like doing the Conga with sailors and doing odd jobs to get by.

The show emphasizes the surrealness with the hustle and bustle of New York city and the sound design will help highlight the absurdity of the performance on stage. Due to Corbett Auditorium size, an A/B/ VOX system implementation will reinforce and deliver clarity, while the band L/R 8 cabinet Line Arrays let the diverse music of Leonard Bernstein, like Jazz and Conga, come to life and envelop the audience with a concert style approach with Array Zoning with the assistance of Audiotechnic d&b Arrayprocessing. The boat house installations are used to help reinforce for the audience members sitting far left and right. For those sitting in the balcony two d&b Y7P speakers will be used as delays so that they get the same clarity as if they were sitting with floor seats. The Digico SD10, with its outstanding customization, will allow the console to be tailor made to handle the 32 plus cast with a full orchestra.
