Laughs In Spanish

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre

By Alexis Scheer

Directed by Bridget Leak

Sound Designed by Matt Tibbs

"Laughs in Spanish" by Alexis Scheer is a comedic and poignant play that follows the story of Ana, a young woman navigating her identity as a Latina comedian in the stand-up comedy world. As Ana strives to make her mark while dealing with family expectations and cultural pressures, the play explores themes of heritage, authenticity, and the pursuit of dreams. With humor and heart, "Laughs in Spanish" sheds light on the challenges and triumphs of finding one's voice in a world full of expectations.

The design of the transition music was made to mimic the music heard typically in Wynwood. I was inspired by the music of artists like Bad Bunny and Karol G.
